CROP POD
Urban Horticulture Workshop, Kymenlaakson University of Applied Science, Finland
The GSAPP Laboratory of Applied Science team was invited to Kymenlaakson, Finland to participate in an urban horticulture workshop. The idea was to come up with a buildable idea for urban farming, using wood and metal.
Design Build Team: Sissily Harrell, Andrew Maier, Vahe Markosian, Diego Rodriguez, Michael Schissel
The initial concept we brainstormed was very simple pods that could hang on clotheslines, because they are prevalent in cities all over the world. However when we arrived and saw the caliber of wood and metalworking facilities available at Kymenlaakon University of Applied Sciences, we decided to put these shops to use: concentrating on craftsmanship, and creating beautiful precisely detailed hanging sculptures.
